Claudia Sheinbaum, president-elect of Mexico, sent a message of support to the communities affected by hurricanes Helene and John, which have caused havoc in different regions of the country.
Through a statement published on the social network X, Sheinbaum expressed her solidarity with those affected by the heavy rains in Quintana Roo, caused by Hurricane Helene, and with the inhabitants of Guerrero, who also suffered the ravages of Hurricane John.
Sheinbaum highlighted that the Government of Mexico has immediately deployed the DN-III and Marina emergency plans, as well as other civil protection measures, to address the needs of the affected communities.
These response plans are coordinated by federal authorities and seek to guarantee the safety of citizens and the necessary assistance in the impacted areas.
Preparations for October 1st
In her message, the future president reiterated that from October 1, when she formally assumes the presidency, her government will work continuously to maintain the necessary attention in the areas affected by these meteorological phenomena.
Sheinbaum stressed her commitment to follow up on civil protection work and support for the affected communities.
In addition, Sheinbaum called on the inhabitants of the coasts of Colima, Michoacán, Oaxaca and Jalisco, asking them to remain alert for possible new natural phenomena.
She urged them to follow the warnings issued by the National Water Commission (Conagua) and to comply with the recommendations of Civil Protection to guarantee their safety.
