Mexico’s virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, has announced the establishment of a Business Advisory Council that will commence with the start of her administration.

This council, aimed at strengthening ties with the private sector, seeks to boost regional development and facilitate the relocation of companies within the country.

Sheinbaum detailed that the council will be headed by Altagracia Gómez, a prominent businesswoman and member of her team.

Gómez will coordinate interactions between various government departments, including the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Energy, among others.

Encouraging Private Investment

During a private meeting with members of the International Monetary Conference (IMC), Claudia Sheinbaum expressed optimism about the investment climate in Mexico.

“There is a strong spirit of investment from the banking sectors,” Sheinbaum stated, highlighting the interest and confidence of the private sector in her team’s proposals.

Marcelo Ebrard, who will be the next Secretary of Economy, outlined the main campaign proposals, such as the creation of welfare hubs, infrastructure projects, and the shared prosperity initiative.

Ebrard noted that private investment in Mexico could reach up to 46 billion dollars, reflecting a significant commitment from the business sector to the country’s economic growth.

Meeting with Banking Leaders

These leaders discussed investment opportunities and collaboration with the incoming government, emphasizing the importance of a stable and favorable economic environment to attract investments.
