Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reiterated her commitment to representing the people in the Judiciary during her visit to Villa de Zaragoza, in San Luis Potosí.

In a call to citizens, Sheinbaum urged those who meet the requirements to apply for the next election of judges, magistrates and ministers, scheduled for June 1, 2025.

“It is essential that the people of Mexico have a voice in the Judiciary to combat corruption and privileges,” Sheinbaum stressed, highlighting that a Court with many “Benitos Juárez” is sought, in reference to the leader who symbolizes justice and equity.

The event took place at the presentation of the Women’s Welfare Pension, a new support that will be a reality in 2025 and that has already begun its registration throughout the country.

Priority Projects for San Luis Potosí

Sheinbaum also took the opportunity to announce a series of key projects that the federal government will carry out in coordination with the state of San Luis Potosí.

These include the construction of the Zaragoza-Río Verde highway, new dams to improve the supply of drinking water, and the extension of the passenger train that will connect Mexico City with Nuevo Laredo, passing through San Luis Potosí.

The president noted that these projects are part of the so-called “second floor” of the Fourth Transformation, which seeks to consolidate social programs and new initiatives that positively impact communities.

In this context, Sheinbaum reiterated the continuity of existing programs such as the Pension for Older Adults and Sembrando Vida, and announced the start of three other supports: the Women’s Well-being Pension, the universal scholarship “Rita Cetina Gutiérrez” and the Health House by House program.

The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, reported that the new universal scholarship “Rita Cetina Gutiérrez” will benefit more than 128 thousand high school students in San Luis Potosí in 2025.

Families will receive an amount of 1,900 pesos, with an additional 700 pesos for each extra child. Delgado also explained that registration will open on November 11 and parents must present official identification, proof of address and CURP of their children.

For its part, the Health House by House program will send more than 22 thousand health professionals to visit senior citizens and people with disabilities in their homes, offering consultations and prescription of medications that can be purchased at the Farmacias del Bienestar, new facilities that will be next to the branches of the Bancos del Bienestar.

Commitment to State Infrastructure

The governor of San Luis Potosí, José Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, expressed his enthusiasm for the joint projects with the federal government, highlighting the importance of the works for the four regions of the state.

“The construction of dams and the passenger train will boost connectivity and access to drinking water, improving the quality of life of the people of San Luis Potosí,” he said.

The event was attended by prominent officials, including Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, Secretary of the Interior, and Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, head of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, among others.

This event underlined the commitment of the Sheinbaum government to the social and economic development of San Luis Potosí and Mexico as a whole.
