Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has made history as the first woman to lead the Executive Branch in 200 years of the Republic.

During a solemn and historic ceremony, Sheinbaum received the official certification from the Federal Electoral Tribunal (TEPJF), formally declaring her as the President-elect of Mexico.

In her speech, Sheinbaum emphasized that this achievement is not just hers, but belongs to all the women who have fought for equality.

In front of a distinguished audience, including special guests, family members, her future cabinet members, electoral magistrates, and Supreme Court justices, Sheinbaum described this moment as an unprecedented milestone in the country’s history.

She highlighted the significance of being the first woman in two centuries to receive the recognition as president-elect, placing special emphasis on the “a” in “presidenta.”

A Commitment to Honesty and Justice

Claudia Sheinbaum received the certificate of majority from the TEPJF president, officially legitimizing her as the president-elect of the United Mexican States for the 2024-2030 term.

In her address in the TEPJF plenary hall, Sheinbaum pledged to govern with honesty, responsibility, and deep respect for the independence of powers.

She assured that her government will serve all Mexicans without distinction, always acting in the interest of the common good.

Sheinbaum also highlighted the importance of the TEPJF’s review process regarding overrepresentation in the Legislative Branch.

She noted that on June 2, the people of Mexico clearly expressed their will in the composition of the Congress, and she stressed the importance of adhering to the electoral rules in the allocation of majority and proportional representation legislators.

Judicial Reform and Popular Vote

In her speech, Sheinbaum also addressed the judicial reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which aims to have ministers, magistrates, and judges elected by popular vote.

According to Sheinbaum, this reform reflects the will of the people as expressed in the June 2 elections and represents a step toward greater democratization of the country’s institutions.

Sheinbaum concluded her remarks by reaffirming her commitment to the people of Mexico, promising to give her utmost effort and even her life to serve the nation.

With this promise, Sheinbaum is poised to assume the presidency with a vision of building a more just, inclusive, and prosperous Mexico, where the well-being and rights of all citizens are the top priority.
