- It has been confirmed that AMLO’s son will not be part of Claudia Sheinbaum’s Cabinet after he was caught leaving the current office of the virtual president-elect of Mexico.
After being seen leaving Claudia Sheinbaum’s halfway house, Gonzalo López Beltrán, son of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will not join the president-elect’s cabinet.
From the National Palace, President López Obrador expressed his satisfaction with his son’s decision not to get involved in politics.
The Tabasco president explained that Gonzalo, who has collaborated honorably in the Interoceanic Train project of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, has no intention of holding a government position.
“Gonzalo is not involved in politics. He has helped on the Interoceanic on an honorary basis, without receiving salary, and will not work in the government. He made me very happy when he told me that,” commented the president.

Interoceanic Train Project
The Interoceanic Train of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec is one of the most emblematic railway projects in Mexico along with the Mayan Train. Although its history goes back decades, it was during the López Obrador government that the Interoceanic was revitalized.
This train connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, linking the ports of Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz and Salina Cruz in Oaxaca, facilitating both the transportation of passengers and cargo.
Gonzalo’s involvement in this project has been solely of an honorary nature, without remuneration. López Obrador stressed the importance of this type of participation, clearly differentiating the family commitment to public service.

Rocío Chocolate Family Business
Instead of joining the government, Gonzalo López Beltrán will continue working at the family chocolate business, Chocolates Rocío, along with his brothers Andrés Manuel López Beltrán “Andy” and José Ramón.
The company, founded in 2020, has its store on Guatemala Street #20, in the Historic Center of Mexico City, and operates from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
López Obrador explained that the company originated from a 52-hectare land in Teapa, Tabasco, inherited by his maternal grandfather, where they began to grow cocoa for the production of chocolate.
“I was very happy to know that Gonzalo will be in charge of the chocolate factory, because often, the children of people dedicated to these noble professions suffer because of their parents’ responsibilities,” said the president.

Controversy surrounding Sowing Life
The president also defended his son against accusations related to the Sembrando Vida program.
Some media outlets, including Aristegui Noticias, had suggested that López Obrador’s sun benefited from the program to increase cocoa production for his factory.
“They claimed that we were promoting Sembrando Vida to produce cocoa and supply my sun’s factory, which is absurd given that our company is small,” López Obrador responded.

These statements seek to clarify any misunderstanding and emphasize that Gonzalo López Beltrán’s participation in government projects has been limited and non-lucrative.
Meanwhile, the family focuses on their chocolate business, a company that continues to grow from its humble beginnings in Tabasco.
